NAFTA and dirty energy
Remember NAFTA - the North American Free Trade Agreement? Almost 15 years ago Canada and the United States signed an agreement that compels Canada to supply the US with oil and gas - lots of oil and gas - for 30 years. Some groups are calling for a renegotiation of that agreement.

Under NAFTA, Canada is required to ship 2/3 of all the oil and 63% of all the natural gas it produces every year. Problem is, some folks are saying Canada only has 13 years of conventional oil and less than 9 years of natural gas supplies left - at current production levels.

You tell me if Canada and the US should sit down and renegotiate the agreement.

We are all campaigning together to get this behemoth slowed if not stopped. Please pass along the message of the AvaTarSands.org campaign:
The world's dirtiest and most expensive oil comes from Alberta, Canada: tar sands oil. Follow the Na'vi's advice: warn President Obama about dirty tar sands oil at http://action.avatarsands.org
