Dirty Energy

Increased energy demand is forcing a choice upon us

Record high fuel prices and growing global demand for energy is driving a dangerous rush to extract the most polluting fuels on the planet. Tar sands in Canada, oil shale and uranium in the western United States, and coal and oil and gas development all over the U.S. and the world are being actively developed to meet this demand.

Right now, we're choosing dirty energy

Unfortunately, these sources are dirty.  Among other areas, they negatively impact

Areas of great ecological significance and, increasingly, urban areas and even people's backyards are affected as well.

We need to change course now

In North America, the dirty energy sector already dwarfs production and investment in clean and renewable-energy technologies , and is poised to grow even faster in the next decade if we do not act now.  The No Dirty Energy campaign is dedicated to raising public awareness of the danger of our current dirty energy path -- to local communities and the global ecosystem -- and to change course before it's too late.
