Decades of dirty gas drilling in Colorado’s San Juan Basin

Dealing with the energy companies is the most demeaning process I’ve ever been involved with. You are always feeling powerless and angry, their representatives alternate between extremely nasty to sweet as sugar, and you just don’t get anywhere by talking to them. It’s so important for people to get together and organize, to gain some negotiating power.

They are really harming our local environment

They’ve evacuated people from their homes, our trees and vegetation have been killed, they’ve taken homes apart board by board. One man is already dead and another is seriously injured. Our neighbor turned her faucet on and 160-degree water shot out. The energy company won’t even admit they’ve caused any of the problems.

Natural gas isn’t clean just because it’s natural. You don’t say “natural coal” or “natural oil”, it has real impacts on the people surrounding where they drill. I wish they would call it "drilled gas".
